Melissa's Journey - feeling graceful, strong and confident with aerial arts

I first started Aerial Hoop and Silks in May 2021. I'd always wanted to give them a try but I just never had the guts to do it...


After talking with a few girls at work that went to Altitude and finding out how much they enjoyed it, I felt it was a good time to try - especially since I was getting bored of my regular gym routine!


My first class was in aerial silks. I went in scared and worried I wouldn't enjoy it or be any good. But it was the exact opposite, I had so much fun and even managed an alright foot lock!!!


When I started I had no strength at all, which made it hard at first, but over time my strength has built allowing me to do more and more of the really fun stuff 💪


The thing I like best is that aerials make me feel graceful, it's the only time I actually do - when my feet are firmly on the ground I am a massive klutz!!!


Since joining I have grown a lot in both confidence and self-esteem. I've seen how much I've been able to accomplish and I am happy to be able to say I'm proud of myself. I have become far more out-going than I used to be, that's for sure!


I'm grateful for those that have been part of my Altitude journey so far, without their love and support I wouldn't be who I am today 💙


The advice I would give someone starting is to remember to have fun, and don't give up! Because everyone started somewhere, right?
